Demolition contract awarded

The contract for demolishing the old air terminal in Masset has been awarded, but the building will be there for a few weeks yet.Masset council awarded the contract to demolish the building to CDC Contracting, as it was the lowest of three bids on the project. The demolition is delayed by the new terminal building, not quite finished."We are a little behind because the floor sealing at the new airport hasn't happened yet," said Masset mayor Andrew Merilees. Pacific Coastal will not be able to move their operation until the floor is completed. "It's expected that we will have the new terminal sealed and ready to go in about two weeks and then the old building should be done," said Mr. Merilees.
