Diver dies in Rennell Sound

A commercial diver is dead following an incident at Rennell Sound, west of Queen Charlotte, on Saturday morning.The Rescue Coordination Centre in Victoria received the call just after 11:00 am, saying a geoduck diver was in medical distress.A Cormorant helicopter en route from Comox to Smithers was despatched, as was the Coast Guard vessel in Sandspit.Crews administered CPR and flew the diver to hospital in Queen Charlotte, where he was pronounced dead.Details of the cause of the accident are not available, nor is the name of the deceased man.
