Eagle bodies found

Six eagle bodies with their heads, tails, wings and claws removed have been found on a beach in Old Massett.Masset RCMP Corporal Andrew Bayliss said the detachment received a call about the birds on May 27. The police seized the bodies and are still investigating the file. Cpl. Bayliss said they are waiting for the conservation officer to return to the islands so he can determine the cause of death of the eagles.Federal statutes ban the possession or killing of bald eagles, but eagle feathers and claws are used for ceremonial purposes among many first nations.
