Elections upcoming Saturday, Monday

There are two elections coming up in the next few days. The first is Saturday (Dec. 5), when Haida voters elect a Council of the Haida Nation for a new term. Polls are open in Old Massett and Skidegate from 9 am to 9 pm. There’s lots of choice of candidates-four for president, five for vice-president and seven for Old Massett rep and an even dozen for Skidegate rep. Complete details, including statements submitted by the candidates, begin on page 11 of Thursday’s Observer. In Old Massett, it’s the election for Band Council. This one takes place on Monday (December 7), with voting taking place at the health centre. Three candidates are running for Chief Councillor and nine for councillor.
