Every Victim Matters awareness week starts Sunday

Submitted article--Haida Gwaii Restorative Justice is proud to present with the financial contributions of Department of Justice Victim programs Every Victim Matters Awareness week. (Old Massett Village Council). The Massett HGRJ office was successful in receiving funding to provide awareness for victims of any crime events. Sunday April 183:00 pm--ceremony with Hope Setso, Vernon Williams Jr. and Rev. Lily Bell food burning ceremony, prayer, songs, moment of silence, and a cleanse in the ocean.5:00 pm-we'll go to the hall for dinner and a few speeches acknowledging the week awareness. Monday April 199:00 am--OMVC hall for a feather passing, to share the stories and issues that affect us as community members in terms of Victims. 6:00- 10:00 pm--viewing of video "RAGE", made by aboriginal men who have live and survived violence and then became violent offenders. Their recovery process at the Dii tuulang naay (Family Center) * a four part series Patricia Greer and Trauma training counselors will facilitate.Tuesday April 209:00 am to 1:00 pm Strategic Planning; Moderator Traci Brown, Victim Assistance Coordinator. Dialogue from previous day to be discussed in more thorough thought process. Direction of where the community will go and how future victims can be supported. Wednesday April 219:00 am to 1:00 pm Focus groups; direction of action community and service providers will take. Friday April 239:00 am till ?
