The white lines marking Masset's crosswalks are so faded that the situation has become dangerous, councillor Ed Woode said at Monday night's council meeting (June 22).Mr. Woode said village staff need to make sure they put a fresh coat of paint on the crosswalks as soon as possible, or investigate the possibility of using some kind of crosswalk tape to mark them."They're all faded, they haven't been touched for two years," he said. "I am really annoyed about it."Deputy mayor Andrew Merilees directed staff to look into the situation. In other Masset news:. the village has hired two students to work at the brand new visitor information centre this summer. The students are getting the centre ready, and it could be open for tourists as soon as the end of the week, said chief financial officer Jo-Ann Brown.. council members adopted the village's annual report, which outlines how much money the village spent in 2008 and how much money it raised, as well as reporting how it did on its goals for 2008. Last year's goals included the hospital and the information centre, both of which are now completed. One of Masset's top priorities for 2009 is to work with Old Massett to build a new recreation facility - other goals include planning for a new airport terminal building, upgrading the causeway lift station, completing displays, signage and information for the new info centre, and reviewing the village's bylaws.
