Industry Canada announced Tuesday that it will be giving $700,000 to the Gwaii Trust Society to deploy broadband, or high-capacity internet, to islands communities.
The Gwaii Trust Society was one of 25 applicants from across Canada selected. According to Industry Canada, broadband service will allow islanders to access commercial and government service online, increase investment here, provide career opportunities, and increase access to education and health care.
