Ferries phasing out prepaid tickets

BC Ferries won't be selling prepaid paper tickets on its minor routes after June 1, the corporation announced this week.Instead of paper tickets, BC Ferries will be switching to electronic payment cards, similar to a gift card, which customers can load with credit and then use to pay for ferry trips. BC Ferries introduced the card last year and says it has been a success so far.Customers with paper tickets will be able to transfer the value of the tickets on to a BC Ferries card until March 31, 2010. After April 1, 2010, prepaid paper tickets will no longer have a monetary value.
