Fire hazard back to 'low'

The fire hazard rating on the islands has returned to its usual "low" after spending a week at "high".
This past weekend brought 22 millimetres of rain, said Forest Service acting operations manager Brian Eccles, pushing the danger rating down. The rating slipped to "moderate" on Sunday, and then to "low" on Monday (Aug. 18).
In the southern part of the province, however, the fire hazard remained extremely high, and several major forest fires continued burning.
