Forest audit starts next Monday

A five-member team from the Forest Practices Board will be on the islands next week to audit Western Forest Products operations on Moresby Island.
The audit is scheduled to start Monday August 25, and will look at WFP's forest planning and practices in Tree Farm Licence 25.
This is the second audit of TFL 25. The first, conducted in 1999, was limited to roads and timber harvesting. This one includes all five operating areas within the TFL, including near Jordan River and Sayward on Vancouver Island, and areas on the mainland coast near Bella Bella and Knight Inlet.
The audit team includes professional foresters, an engineer and a chartered accountant. It will examine plans, cut blocks, and roads in the field and then report to the board.
TFL 25 was chosen randomly, and not on the basis of location of level of performance.
WFP is a wholly owned subsidiary of Doman Industries Ltd.
