Monday, 4 pm: A forest fire is currently burning near Port Clements on the east side of the Yakoun River on forest lands managed by Western Forest Products. .A spokesperson for the Ministry of Forests said workers were burning slash and a northeast wind came up, causing the fire to burn a little further than planned. Apparently over five hectares are burning and the fire is not under control.The Ministry of Forests is not responsible for putting out the fire, according to the spokesperson, but does have forestry staff at the scene. Western Forest Products personnel are fighting the fire.
