GMD freedom riders

submitted by GM Dawson school--Private donations from generous community members have made GM Dawson student travel possible again! After over a decade of use of our MacMillan-Bloedel donated van, it became retired by the Ministry of Transportation in 2011 with over 170,000 kilometres. In 2012, three community members came forward with monetary donations to purchase a "new" school bus for GMD students. Purchase of the van became possible last October with TLC Automotive donating labour and parts to complete necessary upgrading. Last month, our van was completely decked out with an amazing new paint job giving GMD students and staff a totally rad ride! We would like to thank the generous contributions of Robert Davidson, Tom Lilley, Daniel Schulbeck, Derek Seifert and TLC Automotive for making student travel possible.Picture of the van in the Haida Gwaii Observer on Thursday.
