The GM Dawson Thunder senior boys basketball team is back on their home turf. Recently, they were in Houston for a zone tournament, winning one out of three games, not bad for a team that never played in a tournament before.
As well, team member Tyler Havard won all star at the tournament. Coach Noel Ivon says the guys are gelling as a team, and the trip off-island wasn't about going off island, it was about being a team. Aside from the b-ball, the train ride up to Houston was a big highlight.
Coach Ivon wants to thank the community and parents for their support, as well as Charlotte Marks and Esther Havard for their outstanding fundraising, so necessary in times when sports travel money is hard come by.
Oh yeah, the school is giving the guys the jerseys just to say 'thanks'.
