Marcy Mathers of Sandspit saw a gray whale in Shingle Bay around 8:30 am Monday (April 9).
She spotted the whale in front of SuperValu, and said it was swimming towards the spit.
"It was amazing," she said.
That's the first gray whale sighting called into the Observer this year.
