Harbour Days date change considered

The date for Masset's Annual Harbour Days celebration may be moving later into the year. The Village of Masset website says the change is being considered for a variety of reasons including weather, more local activity and participation.Masset Mayor Andrew Merilees said the change was supported by everyone who attended the first Harbour Day's meeting on March 12, and now the committee is looking for input from the public. He encourages residents to email the office, leave messages on the village's Facebook page or attend the council meeting on Monday March 25 at 7:30 pm at the village office. The office is already receiving many replies, he said, "all sorts of people have been sending all sorts of opinions," he said, "now we just have to filter through them."Mr. Merrilees said he doesn't have an opinion on the date change, he would just like it to be a sunny day when everyone is available to attend. He does favour scaling back the weekend event into a one day event, as it would give volunteers and attendees time to do other things on the weekend.
