Canadian Heritage Minister Sheila Copps this week announced a $1.5 million contribution towards the Qay'llnagaay Heritage Centre.
The money will be used for the design and construction of the new heritage centre to be built in Skidegate beginning this spring. The centre will house a greeting and reception centre, gift shop and gallery, Haida foods café, canoe house, performing arts space, museum and the Bill Reid Teaching Centre.
The Heritage Centre will also house administrative offices for the Gwaalagaa Naay Development Corporation, Qay'llnagaay Heritage Centre Society, Haida Watchmen and Gwaii Haanas National Park Reserve and Haida Heritage Site.
