Highway repair starts in two weeks

The Ministry of Transportation has awarded the contract to repair the rip rap along Highway 16 to Terrace-based Rossco Ventures Ltd.
George Lomas, project manager at the Ministry of Transportation, said Rossco submitted the lowest bid at $915,527. The company should be on the islands and starting work the week of Jan. 5, he said.
The Ministry received 12 bids for the erosion protection work, ranging from Rossco's low bid up to just over $2-million. Local company O'Brien Road and Bridge submitted a bid of $1.8-million.
