Hospital contract to be awarded soon

The Northern Health Authority is expected to award the contract to build the new north-end health centre within the next few days, says Masset administrator Trevor Jarvis.
Mr. Jarvis said the NHA received four bids for the project, and is currently getting more information from the low bidder before making a final decision.
The decision will be made by May 18 at the very latest, he said, and construction will start shortly after that.
The $9.5-million 8-bed health centre is a joint project between Masset, Old Massett and Port Clements, and the NHA. It's being built between Old Massett and Masset, and will replace the dilapidated Masset hospital and clinic.
