House of Assembly underway

The annual Haida House of Assembly is open, as usual, to all Haida citizens. During the four-day assembly, Haida citizens, the legislative body of the Haida Nation, pass laws and set the yearly agenda for the Council of the Haida Nation.The meetings will be held in-camera (non-Haida not allowed) in the theatre at the Haida Heritage Centre from October 9 through 12 from 10 am to 4:30 pm. All Haida Gwaii community members are welcome to visit information booths and talk with CHN staff in the foyer of the Haida Heritage Centre during those four days. Haida Fisheries, the Forest Guardians, the Archaeology department, Land Use Program representatives, Haida Mapping and more will attend. On Oct. 11, the public is also welcome to come to the House of Assembly dinner at the Skidegate Community Hall, where speakers will give an overview of what was discussed. Dinner starts at 5:30 pm. Please bring a salad or a dessert.
