Insurance covers food loss

Due to a problem with the refrigerated truck, the Gwaii Co-op in Skidegate lost a load of meat and milk last week.District manager Richard Claremont said another trailer was mobilized and was on the islands by Friday (July 27), after the problem was discovered on the morning of July 23.He said a mistake must have been made in the warehouse in Edmonton, because when the trailer got to the islands the refrigeration had not been turned on.He said when staff discovered the temperature wasn't where it should be, they decided to dispose of the food.He wasn't sure of the value of the truck load, but said the suppliers insurance would cover the loss.
