The Islands Bucks program may change into something different this year, but the goal will remain to get islanders to spend money on the islands.
Skye Cantin of Community Futures told the chamber of commerce as it met in Queen Charlotte Tuesday (Oct. 5) that the program was very successful its first year (2001), but has not been so successful since. But she says she doesn't want to see it disappear. "We need something to encourage residents to make purchases on the islands," Ms Cantin said.
A committee of interested business owners will meet soon to see what would make sense for the coming Christmas shopping season.
