Kwuna on its way, says BC Ferries

The return of the Kwuna has been delayed yet again, but the little ferry was on its way to the islands on Monday (Jan. 18) and expected to arrive on Tuesday.BC Ferries spokesperson Deborah Marshall said the shipyard needed more time to finish the refit work it has been doing on the Kwuna since October. The ferry was originally supposed to return in mid-December, but that date has kept being delayed.Ms Marshall said once the Kwuna arrives on the islands, there are inspections that need to be signed off, and she expected it would go back into service later this week.In the Kwuna's absence, the Skidegate-Alliford Bay route is being served by a Wainwright Marine tug and barge. The tug and barge has a slightly different schedule than the Kwuna, does not run after 8 pm, and requires drivers to back their vehicles on.
