Air Canada flight cancellations may affect lab tests on islands.Air Canada has cancelled seven flights between Haida Gwaii and Vancouver in November and December, citing low customer demand. Most of hospital services, such as the pharmacies, keep enough supplies on hand that they are not affected by air service disruptions, according to Northern Health representative Jonathon Dyck, as "they understand the nature of rural services."Lab services, however may require sending samples off-island and that can cause a delay in getting the results back. Staff are working with the airline looking for a solution, said Mr. Dyck, and with patients also. "Staff and physicians are working with patients to make sure that get the care they need," Mr Dyck said.
