Lieutenant Governor to visit islands

  • Jun. 15, 2007 4:00 p.m.

Lieutenant Governor Iona Campagnolo is coming to Haida Gwaii next week. She will be visiting Old Massett, Masset, Skidegate and then hosting a gala reception for all islanders Friday evening in Queen Charlotte. The Lieutenant Governor will arrive on the islands Friday morning (June 22) and start the day at the north end, said Government House programs manager Heidi Elliott. She will then make her way down the islands, visiting Skidegate and Queen Charlotte later in the day. “There, we’ll be hosting a community reception that everyone is invited to attend,” Ms Elliott said. Ms Campagnolo, who has been BC’s Lieutenant Governor since 2001, is originally from Prince Rupert and served as the Skeena riding’s MP in the 1970s. She will be visiting Prince Rupert the day before she comes to the islands.
