Submitted by Jenny White-The Vancouver Opera Society has received special funding to enable the society to bring their Magic Flute school show production to Haida Gwaii during the week of April 23-27.
School shows and a special evening performance sponsored by the Arts Council are included in the four-day tour. This year’s Magic Flute performance enjoyed excellent reviews in Vancouver and made use of First Nations masks and costume designs to present the theme of transformation to audiences.
Watch for more details and times and places for the performances in all communities on April 23, 24, 25 and 26. It’s not often the opera ventures to our island shores, so watch for dates and set your calendars for this special presentation.
