Marine workshop upcoming

submitted by the Haida Gwaii Marine Stewardship Group Are you interested in marine wildlife? Ever wanted to know more about marine biology or how you can help protect species at risk? Well, if you spend time on or around the water our Coastwatch program might be for you! It's a network of community members working together to protect abalone and whale species at risk on Haida Gwaii. The program is organized through the Haida Gwaii Marine Stewardship Group. We offer annual workshops and informational sessions, newsletters to keep you informed on the latest species at risk news, and materials to help you become an ocean steward. If you are interested in joining, come check us out at our fourth annual workshop Saturday, March 9, at the Haida Heritage Centre. We will have presenters from the Cetacean Sightings Network, Whale Research Lab at the Vancouver Aquarium and Simon Fraser University to bring you the latest information on mammal sightings around Haida Gwaii, ocean noise pollution and abalone. Call 626-3302 or email sharon.jeffery@haidanation.net for more information. Workshop spaces are limited so please RSVP.
