An injured mariner was rescued Friday March 27 in McIntyre Bay, (off North Beach) after calling for help. The Search and Rescue Centre in Victoria coordinated the operation after a crab boat called in saying that a mariner aboard had sustained serious injuries. When it was determined that his injuries were not life-threatening, Masset RCMP continued their rescue effort, and brought the mariner aboard their vessel. The mariner was taken to hospital in Masset about 45 minutes after the incident began. Police thank the Coast Guard Search and rescue, and the Ambulance Service for their participation in this successful rescue effort.
