Masset Telethon Saturday

A Spirit Bear is on island and being painted by Old Massett artist Donnie Edenshaw in preparation for the Masset-Haida Lions Timmy's Christmas Telethon.
The white Kermode bear is the latest in a series of animals painted in cities across the province for the BC Lion's Society Easter Seal Operations.
The telethon, which will start at 10 am on Saturday, November 26 at the community hall in Masset, is proceeding along says Jack Thorgeirson.
He has 55 items with a retail value of $6,500 to auction off and is still awaiting more. "I know people won't let us down, they never have," he said.
Local entertainers, including singers, guitar players and Haida dancers will entertain the crowd throughout the show. The fun will be televised and broadcast on the cable network.
Volunteers will be manning the phones to take calls from donors.
Funds raised will help support BC's disabled children through the Easter Seal House in Vancouver and a portion of the money will stay on island to support local causes.
