Masset union situation more positive, says rep

The situation between the village of Masset and its unionized employees is slightly better today than it was a week ago, when union members voted unanimously in favour of a strike, says CUPE national servicing rep Rob Hewitt.
"It is a little more positive," Mr. Hewitt told the Observer Friday. "There has been some movement. We are having some discussions."
Mr. Hewitt said he was hopeful that the two sides - which haven't met face-to-face for a year - will be able to re-start negotiations towards a collective agreement. The last agreement expired at the end of 2003.
