Mayor predicts slowdown in Port Clements

Port Clements is headed for an economic slowdown over the next couple of months, mayor Wally Cheer warned at Monday night's council meeting (Dec. 19).Mr. Cheer said two of the local logging companies are facing challenges getting wood to harvest right now, including winter weather."I think we're going to have a number of unemployed people in our community for the next few months," Mr. Cheer said.The situation may improve by April, he added.
