Masset mayor Barry Pages and councillor Andrew Merilees met earlier this month with an off-island company that wants to produce power from wood waste.Mr. Pages told council Monday night (Aug. 16) that the company made a presentation about its new technology. The company is interested in the islands because there is wood waste here and because they're expecting BC Hydro to issue another call for proposals to produce power, he explained.Mr. Pages said he listened to the presentation but isn't holding his breath that the diesel generating stations will be replaced anytime soon. He's heard three or four similar presentations in the past and none of them ever reached the reality stage.
