Milk Run record in Queen Charlotte

A twenty-two year old record was broken Thursday, when QC Secondary School Grade 12 student Brionne Lavoie ran the 2.5 km Milk Run in an astounding 8 minutes, 25 seconds! The old record, set in 1987 and held by brothers Fabio and Carlos Biagi, was 8 minutes and 31 seconds. It was broken by a whopping 6 seconds."It has been a personal goal of mine for some time. I was diagnosed with arthritis when I was 5, and I was told that I would never be able to run," said Mr. Lavoie, "so I set myself to beat the record, and have tried since grade ten to do so, and I finally did. I am kinda proud of myself. None of my cousins or friends beat it, I did." The Milk Run raises money for school equipment and is sponsored by the BC Dairy Foundation.Congratulations, Brionne!
