MIMC, Parks Canada to meet

The Moresby Island Management Committee will be raising some issues with Parks Canada when the two meet on Monday Aug. 20. “Mostly, it’s a meeting surrounding the garbage disposal issue,” MIMC chair Evan Putterill said, then added that Parks Canada “is not really pulling their organizational weight and are not providing any benefit to the community.” “So that will be a very interesting meeting,” he said. Several representatives of Parks Canada, including Gwaii Haanas Superintendent Ernie Gladstone, are expected to attend. MIMC was concerned earlier in the season with the lack of a dumpster at Moresby Camp, where visitors returning from Gwaii Haanas could put their garbage.
