Music festival offered new home

The Edge of the World Music Festival will be receiving an invitation from Port Clements to move the annual summer event to that town's community park.Port council members decided to make the offer Monday night after reading a letter from festival funding director John Thomas.Mr. Thomas simply asked the village for a letter of support as the festival embarks on its annual quest for grants. He will be getting that, and more."Our community park would make a really good venue for that event," mayor Cory Delves said. "On a permanent basis, we could provide something for them at the park."Council members were enthusiastic about the idea, and voted unanimously to write the support letter, and offer the park. The popular music festival started in Queen Charlotte but has been held in Tlell since 1999. Two years ago, it moved to a new spot at the Tlell fairgrounds, within Naikoon Provincial Park.
