Nationally renowned author to visit

Submitted by the Haida Gwaii Arts CouncilZsuzsi Gartner is coming to Haida Gwaii for two readings this weekend. Ms Gartner is a renowned Vancouver-based short-story writer whose two best-known works, All the Anxious Girls on Earth and Better Living Through Plastic Explosives have garnered numerous awards. She is also the editor of the anthology Darwin's Bastards. On Saturday Aug. 3, Gartner will give a public reading at 7 pm at Spirit Square in Queen Charlotte. The reading is free. The next day, Sunday Aug. 4, she will give a reading at the Tlell Fall from 11 am to 11:30 am, followed by a follow-up discussion and question-and-answer period on the riverbank. Admission will be open to all attending the fair. The events are part of the Haida Gwaii Arts literary programming for 2013-2014 and are sponsored by the Canada Council for the Arts.
