New fire truck for Queen Charlotte

The Queen Charlotte Volunteer Fire Department has just taken delivery of a brand-new truck, an American LaFrance pumper which holds 800 gallons and can pump that out in less than a minute. Above, chief Larry Duke along with Dale West show it off. It cost $241,000, with $180,000 coming from the Gwaii Trust and the rest from local citizens and businesses.
"We are definitely really happy-there has been a lot of support from the community, Chief Duke said, "The community has be so awesome to us It just blows us away how much people give to the fire hall that way."
The truck also has a built in foam system and will carry enough equipment so it can assist in Skidegate as well as with auto accidents up the coast.
