North Arm Transportation opened a new bulk fuel plant last week in Masset.
"There is an obvious need for competition. We're trying to stabilize prices and get them going back in the right direction and to get rid of unnecessary fees like trucking/delivery fees," says owner Bob Brown.
North Arm Transportation is affiliated with Chevron. It has been providing marine fuel from a fuel barge for the last four years. The new bulk plant is located at the old Petro Canada service station at the municipal dock.
The bulk plant sells diesel products, wholesale gasoline for service stations, home heating fuel and stove oil. So far North Arm has delivered in the Masset/Port Clements area, but Mr. Brown says he plans to expand his service to all communities including Sandspit. He has one truck delivering fuel now, and he plans to purchase more trucks in the future.
