New hospital for Queen Charlotte discussed

Masset mayor Barry Pages, who attended the Northwest Regional Hospital District meeting May 25, says Northern Health is ready to start the planning process for a new hospital to replace the one in Queen Charlotte.
Mr. Pages said the Northern Health representative told the hospital district directors that it has two priorities right now in the capital projects area: replacement of the hospitals in Queen Charlotte and Smithers.
Northern Health said the first step in the replacement process is to define the scope of the project, Mr. Pages said. That means figuring out issues like how many beds it should have and what services will be provided in the building.
