Regional district directors have cancelled plans to hold this Friday's meeting on Haida Gwaii in order to save money.Instead, the April 16 meeting will be held in Prince Rupert, said acting administrator Helen Koning, with islands directors attending by teleconference.For the rest of this year, islands directors will only travel to Prince Rupert for the monthly meeting when there is also a Northwest regional hospital district meeting being held in Terrace. This happens about every second month, with the next hospital district meeting in May, Ms Koning said. No meetings are planned to be held on the islands.The money-saving move came in this year's budget, adopted on March 31. Directors trimmed expenses in several areas, and travel was one of them.
