  • Jun. 23, 2003 7:00 p.m.

Submitted by Lisa Bland, Haida Gwaii Sierra Club. The Haida Gwaii Sierra Club is hosting an evening discussion on
offshore oil and gas with Michele Perrault, International Vice
President of the Sierra Club. Michele has extensive experience and a long history with the Sierra Club, serving as its National President between 1984-1986 and in 1993, and is recognized for her contributions to international conservation. She co-founded the Bay Area Alliance on Sustainable Communities, and spend 6 years on
President Clinton’s Council on Sustainable Development.
Michele has chaired coalitions on both east and western coasts of the US which succeeded in stopping oil drilling off the northern coast of California and Georges Bank off Massachusetts.
She is pleased to share her thoughts and success stories from other communities in maintaining moratoriums on oil and gas development, and provide insights to ways communities and individuals can be pro-active.
Please join us at Cacilia’s Bed and Breakfast on July 4 at 7:30 pm for an informative evening with Michele, learning about oil and gas issues from other areas, rekindling the passion that links us to this beautiful coast, and being reminded that we each can make a difference.
