Old Massett to hold another election

Old Massett voters are going back to the polls for the second time in four months to elect a chief councillor.
The current chief councillor, Elizabeth Moore, said she objects to the new election, but is willing to "fight to win in the courts or go back to the polls and let's do this again."
The original election was held in December 2005. Ms Moore won with a narrow margin and retained her position even after a recount was done.
Then in January the election was called into question when it was alleged a candidate had not met the residency requirements.
New electoral officer Bruce Mack of Williams Lake could not be reached before the deadline.
The advance polls open on April 17, with election day on April 24. The candidates are Ron Brown Jr, Wilson Brown, Kim Davidson, Elizabeth Moore and Mick Morrison.
