Pages appointed to transportation committee

Masset mayor Barry Pages has captured a spot on the North Coast transportation advisory committee set up last week by the provincial government.
The north coast committee is one of eight formed throughout the province. According to Premier Gordon Campbell, they will give communities a stronger voice in local transportation planning and advise the province on regional transportation needs.
Other members of the north coast committee are David McGuigan of Prince Rupert, Ken Houlden and Derrick Curtis of Terrace, Joanne Monaghan of Kitimat, Dick Bandstra and Bill Zemenchik of Smithers, and Eileen Benedict of Burns Lake.
The committee members will not receive any compensation, but their travel and other expenses will be covered. Their first trip was to a one-day meting in Richmond on Saturday (April 26), where they heard from both the premier and transportation minister Judith Reid.
