Police beat quiet

Eighty vehicles were checked tlast weekend coming from Canada Day celebrations in Port Clements, but Masset RCMP had nothing to report.
Corporal Bob Isaacs says the Canada Day weekend is usually relatively quiet, but a couple of road checks were set up July 2 to intercept people coming from the beer garden.
One was 3 kilometres south of Port at 3:30 pm, another at Nadu Road at 6 pm. The result? Only cars filled with families and tourists, no charges laid.
However, while all the drivers were in good condition, some of the vehicles weren't. Cpl. Isaacs says some warnings for vehicle defects were issued.
