Police cars computerized

More police cars may now be seen sitting on the side of the road since the RCMP installed computer systems in all vehicles. Now officers will be able to do file work from their vehicles, says Queen Charlotte RCMP Sergeant Neil Hogg. They used to have to come back to the office to write up their reports and then go back on the road. With laptops bolted right into the cars, officers can complete their files and remain in the community, rather than spending so much time in the office.Sgt. Hogg said March was very busy with training on these new systems, but he thinks the computers will be an invaluable tool. He says the radios will still be used for calling-in while driving, but radio traffic will be decreased.
