Police find man drinking in school parking lot

Police found a man drinking in a car parked in the A.L. Mathers school parking lot in Sandspit, Tuesday May 13 around 5 pm. He was arrested and charged with impaired care and control of a motor vehicle.
Police want to remind people that they don't have to be driving to be charged with impairment, says Const. Pat Jenkins of the Queen Charlotte detachment. Anyone found under the influence while sitting in the driver's seat can be charged.
A Skidegate family returned from a week's vacation last Thursday to find their Second Avenue home topsy turvy. Someone entered their house through the bathroom window and tore the house apart, Const. Jenkins said. They won't know if anything was stolen until they've had a chance to tidy up. Police are asking anyone who saw something suspicious to call them.
Police arrested a man May 14 around 4 pm in Skidegate for violating his parole conditions. He was taken to Masset for a bail hearing and released on condition he not enter Skidegate again, Const. Jenkins said. The man has been convicted of offences against a Skidegate resident, and is forbidden to be in the village.
