Pooch's pepper-spraying perplexes police

A dog was pepper sprayed in Queen Charlotte, leaving police wondering if it was out of mischief or because the dog was causing a problem.Constable Josh Jamieson said the incident took place on the afternoon of Feb. 7. The dog's owners, who live in the 600 block of 3rd Avenue, made the complaint. The dog had been off-leash and out of their yard and when it came back home, the owners found that it was frothing at the mouth and trying to shake the pepper spray off.Cst. Jamieson said pepper spray has a distinctive smell, so officers could tell right away the dog had been sprayed.Officers aren't sure whether the person who sprayed the dog was attacked, but they said if people have complaints about a vicious dog, they should call the police. "We will respond," he said. That said, "there are no bylaws about loose dogs."
