Port author dies

Port Clements author Ron Robinson died Dec. 8 at the age of 72, just a few months after publishing his first book, "The Original Relic - a Life on the Edge".Mr. Robinson was born and raised in Victoria, spent the 1960s and 1970s log salvaging around Vancouver Island, and moved to the Charlottes in 1981 to work for D & E Towing in Port Clements. He and his wife Bette Andrews spent several years in the 1980s living in a cabin at Port Louis on the west coast. The story of these years are among the many adventures he tells in his book. His final year was eventful. After being laid off last fall, he went to work writing his book, which he completed and self-published in the summer. Mr. Robinson held a grand book release party at Port's Yakoun River Inn in September to start selling his books, and also married his longtime partner, Ms Andrews, at the same time.
