Port council wants pharmacy open late

Port Clements council is asking the pharmacy at the Northern Haida Gwaii Hospital to consider staying open late one night a week, saying many local residents don't work regular hours and find it difficult to pick up prescriptions.Council members discussed the pharmacy Aug. 6, saying they hope the facility will at least try staying open until 9 pm once a week and track how many people use the service.Local grocery store Bayview Market does hold prescriptions for people to pick up, but mayor Wally Cheer said some people don't get off work until after 6 pm when Bayview closes, and don't have a partner or family members who could pick up medicine during open hours.
