Power out twice in two days

Birds striking power lines were responsible for two brief blackouts on Sunday and Monday, says BC Hydro community relations manager Dave Conway.
Power went out Sunday (July 3) around 5 am, affecting about 3,000 customers on the southern half of the islands, he said. Crews did not find the bird.
Monday morning the power went out again around 4:30 am, this time from an eagle hitting the lines, Mr. Conway said. The same customers were affected.
Several islanders reported problems with computers and internet following the outage. Jim Pazarena of qcislands.net said these events can wreak havoc with electronic equipment, and recommends unplugging and plugging back in any electronic devices.
