QC's siren delayed

Queen Charlotte will wait a little longer for the installation of its tsunami siren."There are delays related to the engineering of the structural base," said QC's Chief Administrative Officer Peter Weeber. The $ 22,000 siren was purchased by the village after the earthquake and tsunami warning in October 2012 and was expected to be installed by the beginning of June, but the construction of the base has delayed the installation. Mr. Weeber said it was "pretty safe" to say that it will now be installed by the end of June instead. The siren weighs 400 pounds and will be installed on a 46-foot pole set in concrete in the Albion Fisheries parking lot. Mr. Weeber said that when it is installed, its sound will be able to reach most of Queen Charlotte.
